Jesus, my Prince of Peace • part 1

Advent is well upon us and as I consider and anticipate the celebration of the coming of our precious Savior, I am overwhelmed when I think about the names He was called when he was promised to us by the prophet Isaiah…

…Wonderful Counselor…

…Mighty God…

…Everlasting Father…

Prince of Peace

Perhaps to you, peace means the absence of noise in your house. Perhaps it means no violence in your space, your community, your land. Perhaps it means unity between you and your spouse, your significant other, your child, your parents, or your dearest friend.

Lately, I can’t talk about [authentic] [healthy] community without mentioning the concepts of “vulnerability” and “acceptance”. As I begin to process this idea in this space, it’s helpful for me (maybe for you, too!) to consider the exact definitions of those words:

authentic: of undisputed origin; genuine. made or done in the traditional or original way, or in a way that faithfully resembles an original. (in existentialist philosophy) relating to or denoting an emotionally appropriate, significant, purposive, and responsible mode of human life. Lately, I have been feeding on His faithfulness because He has been so good, because He is good right now, and because I need to constantly remember that He will always continue to be good, will never cease to be good, and is even better than I think He is.

Dear Reader, if you claim to know Him yet felt your insides squeeze a little when you read one, two, maybe all of the phrases right above this one…oh, I’m praying for you tonight.

The One who takes an interest in the state of the country.
The state of this hemisphere.
The state of the world.
